SRM CGPA Calculator for All Courses

Calculate your SRM University CGPA instantly by selecting your regulation year and course, then entering your semester GPAs one by one. Built for SRM students across all departments. This tool gives you your accurate cumulative GPA in seconds with zero manual formula work.

How to Calculate Your SRM CGPA Using Our Tool

This calculator was built specifically for SRM IST students. You do not need your syllabus, PDFs, your credit sheet or any manual work. The credit values are already preloaded according to your branch and regulation.

Here is how to use it:

  1. Select 2021 regulation (if you joined in or after 2021).
  2. Choose your B.Tech branch from this list.
  3. Type your Semester GPA’s on the 10-point scale.
  4. Hit calculate and your CGPA appears instantly along with percentage equivalent using SRM IST’s official formula (CGPA x 10).

The calculator weights each semester by its actual credits total, not just averages your GPA’s equally. So a semester where you carried 25 credits counts more than one with 20. That is exactly how SRM IST’s academic regulation defines CGPA, and this tool reflects that precisely.

If you want to plan ahead, try arrear simulator by entering target GPA’s for semesters you have not completed. It shows you where you need to land to hit a specific CGPA.

What is CGPA and how is it calculated at SRM IST?

CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is the total number that represents your entire academic performance across all 8 semesters at SRM Institute of Science and Technology.

Unlike your semester GPA, which resets every 6 months, your CGPA builds continuously from the very first semester until graduation. Every credit you earn from subjects feeds into this one number.

It appears on your official SRM degree certificate, your transcripts, and every placement you will ever fill. Whether you’re sitting for campus recruitment at Kattankulathur, Ramapuram, SRM AP, or Delhi NCR, companies, universities, and scholarship committees will look at this figure first.

Knowing it early gives you a real edge.

How SRM IST Calculates Your CGPA

Your CGPA is a credit-weighted average of all 8 semesters GPAs.
Here is the official formula from SRM IST’s Regulations:

CGPA = Σ (Semester GPA × Semester Credits) ÷ Σ (Total Credits)

What this means in practice: a semester where you earned 24 credits affects more than one where you earned 18 credits. Heavier semesters drag it down or up (proportionally more).

Example: 4 semesters of B.Tech CSE (2021 Regulation)

CGPA = 784.7 ÷ 93 = 8.44

Notice how semester 3’s strong 9.1 GPA carries extra weight because it had the most credits.

One clarification worth stating clearly: SRM IST converts CGPA to Percentage by CGPA x 10, not the CGPA x 9.5 approximation some other universities follow. A CGPA of 8.44 at SRM IST equals 84.4%, not 80.18%.

Use the right formula when filling placement forms.

Why does CGPA matter at SRM IST?

Most students treat CGPA as a report card number. It is a filtering mechanism, and the filters are launched earlier than your expectations.

Campus placements

Every recruiter who walks into SRM IST’s CDC already has a CGPA cutoff decided. TCS, Infosys and Wipro generally look for 6.5 and above. Core engineering companies and product-based firms like Amazon, Google and Microsoft want 8.0 or higher. And if you have an active backlog, most of the companies will not consider you at all, even if your CGPA clears their cutoff.

Higher studies

Work differently, but the pressure is similar. Most universities in the US top 50 convert your CGPA to their own parameters when reviewing your application. Above 8.5 makes that conversion clean and comfortable. Below that, your GRE score has to work to cover the gap.

Government and PSU jobs

Ask for a percentage on application forms, not CGPA. Since SRM IST ‘s official conversion is CGPA x 10, your CGPA directly determines the percentage you write there.

Scholarships and fee concessions

SRM IST carry minimum CGPA conditions tied to specific schemes. Drop below that number mid-degree and your concession gets reviewed.

Graduating

Demands a minimum CGPA of 5.0 and 0 active backlogs, as stated in SRM IST’s academic regulations. No exceptions.

Knowing these numbers now is what actually gives you time to do something about them.

Mass recruiters like TCS and Wipro require 6.5 to 7.0 CGPA. Product-based and core engineering companies ask for 8.0 and above. Active backlogs disqualify you from most drives.

Multiply your CGPA by 10. For instance, a CGPA of 8.0 equals 80%. The CGPA x 9.5 formula does not apply to SRM IST.

The maximum CGPA at SRM IST is 10.0, achieved by scoring an O grade, 91 marks or above in every subject across all semesters.

Absolutely! 8.0 is a strong number that qualifies you for the most product-based companies and core engineering roles. For top-tier tech firms and US university admissions, 8.5 and above strengthens your profile further.

Yes. Your cumulative GPA is present on your SRM degree certificate and academic transcripts.
