Free SRM Attendance Calculator
The SRM attendance calculator is a free online tool that lets SRM University students enter their total conducted classes and attended classes to immediately find their attendance percentage, check if they meet the obligatory 75% exam eligibility rule, and calculate exactly how many classes they can still skip or must attend, before the end of semester.
That's the definition. Now here's what you actually came for.
How to Use the SRM Attendance Calculator
Using this SRM attendance calculator takes less than 10 seconds.
- Enter your total classes conducted
- Enter your classes attended
- Hit Calculate Attendance
That is it. Your percentage shows instantly along with your status and how many classes you can still safely bunk.
Want to calculate manually instead? Here is the formula.
Attendance % = (Classes Attended ÷ Total Classes Conducted) × 100
So if you attended 100 out of 120 classes your attendance is 83.3%. If your result is above 75% you are safe. Below 75% means you need to act fast.

The 74.9% row isn't in that table because it doesn't exist as a safe category. 74.9% is detention. Attendance is calculated to two decimal places at SRM, and the system does not round up. It rounds, but always against you.
What the 75% Rule Actually Means at SRM
SRMIST's official regulation R7.5 gives you an 'I' Grade. That stands for Registration Cancelled for Want of Attendance. It rests on your transcript every semester until you retake the entire course from scratch. Re-register. Re-pay. Re-sit.
That repeated course directly affects your GPA. See how much using our SRM GPA Calculator.
For core subjects you have no choice. You wait for the course to be offered again.
The 75% rule applies per subject, not your overall average.
You can have 82% overall and still get detained in one subject sitting at 73%. Both are true at the same time.
The SRM Evarsity portal shows your raw numbers per subject but gives you zero eligibility warning. No red flag. No alert. Students find out when the detention list drops.
By then recovery is impossible.
SRM Condonation Rule: What Happens If You Fall Below 75%
SRMIST's official regulation R7.5 provides for a condonation process, but with a hard ceiling most students and even some online guides don't mention. The condonation cannot exceed 10% under any circumstances, regardless of reason. A committee consisting of the Head of Department and Senior Faculty reviews your case, and the Dean CET makes the final call.
This means:
- If you're at 65–74.9%: You may be eligible to apply for condonation with proper documentation (medical certificate, participation in official university events, etc.)
- If you're below 65%: Condonation is not on the table. Re-registration is your only path.
- Even above 65%: Condonation is not guaranteed. "May" is doing real work in that regulation.

OD vs Medical Leave: Which One Saves Your Attendance at SRM
On-Duty (OD) counts as present. If you attend an inter-university event or an officially permitted job interview, your attendance does not drop. That day is treated as a class you attended.
Medical Leave (ML) does not add to your attendance. It does not count you as present. What it can do in genuine cases is give your shortage a fair hearing during condonation review. That is all.
Here is what this means for you practically.
If you have a choice between an ML day and getting an OD for an approved activity, always go for the OD. It protects your percentage in a way ML simply cannot.
One protects you. The other gives you a chance to explain yourself.
Choose OD whenever possible.

Labs are unforgiving. One missed session drops your percentage faster than you expect.
A typical lab module at SRM has 30-45 sessions in a semester. Missing 3 lab sessions in a 30-session module takes you from 100% to 90% in one week. Theory classes spread the damage over a larger base.
